Welcome

This is the companion to the training: every frame set-up, written out step by step, so you can follow along without scrambling to copy the slides. Nothing here replaces the manual or the practicum. It is a place to look when you are about to sit in the therapist chair and want the sequence in front of you.

Read it on your phone in reading view, print the pages you want, or download the whole set as a PDF. The text size buttons at the top are there if the type is too small. Everything stays up, so you can come back to it when a set-up comes up with a client.

Please keep the link and access code within our training group.

Culture comes before science
Spirituality comes before science
“Culture comes before science” came to David during the training in Korea, and both phrases have become central to the BIPOC trainings. Brainspotting is a global model. It takes Western science into account, but it is not delimited by it.
We are cultural beings. Brainspotting is oriented toward sensory experience, in our current lives and in our ancestors: sound, movement, smell, taste, and what the body holds.
So read the frame set-ups here as a sequence, not as the whole of what happens in the room. What each of us carries arrives first.
The human experience can never be narrowed down.

From the training

David's teaching written up, and the research behind it.

The Expansion Model

Where it came from, zero to infinity, and how the frame is set.

Attunement and uncertainty

Attuned presence, the frame when nothing is certain, trusting the client.

Dosing, humility and shame

Dosing step by step, and where shame actually belongs.

The eyes and the research

Four papers on vision, threat and attunement. All downloadable.

Holding the frame

Holding rather than intervening, good enough attunement, and why there is never an uh-oh.
