What this is

We are a circle of therapists, facilitators and trainers who learn Brainspotting together in rooms held for us. Some of these trainings are for Black, Indigenous and People of Colour only. Others are affinity spaces gathered around a shared community or lineage. All of them are led by trainers who teach with culture in the room rather than set to one side.

This site keeps two things: the dates of what is coming, open to anyone, and the handouts and write-ups from trainings already held, which stay with the people who were there.

Why a space of our own

Brainspotting asks you to stay with what your body is holding while someone else stays with you. That is difficult work to do in a room where you are also managing how you are being seen, explaining yourself, or bracing for the moment your experience is treated as a special case.

In these rooms nobody has to translate. Culture comes before science, so what a client carries from their family, their history and the systems around them is part of the clinical picture rather than noise around it.

Upcoming trainings

By date, whoever is leading. We list the BIPOC and affinity-space trainings we know of; each links to the trainer who is holding it, and registration happens on their site, not here.

Phase 1 and Phase 2 trainings open to all professionals run most months with Awaken Consulting Services and Twinflower Psychological Services.

Already trained with us?

Your handouts, the frame set-ups, the write-ups from what was taught and your own session notes are all still there. You need the access code from your training.

About Brainspotting

Brainspotting was developed by David Grand, PhD. It works with where a person looks: a fixed eye position holds an activation in the body, and staying there lets the deep brain process it, with the therapist attuned and present rather than steering.

These pages are for trained therapists and are a companion to training, never a substitute for it.
